Care in Washington

What a Washington video consultation covers

Washington patients can consult Dr. Shaikh by video from anywhere in the state, including patients east of the Cascades where dermatology access is limited.

Because Dr. Shaikh practices on the East Coast, Washington patients should expect appointment times earlier in the Pacific day.

Appointment times and time zones

Washington observes Pacific Time. Appointment times are displayed in the time zone you select, so a visit booked from Washington is shown in Pacific Time.

  • Expect morning and early-afternoon Pacific Time slots, which correspond to Eastern Time working hours.
  • Prescriptions are sent electronically to the Washington pharmacy you choose during the visit.
Eligibility

Who can book from Washington

  • You will be physically located in Washington during the video appointment. Eligibility follows your location that day, not your mailing address.
  • You are 18 or older.
  • You are paying directly for the visit. This practice does not bill insurance, and Medicare or Medicare Advantage patients cannot book online — contact the practice instead.
  • Follow-up visits are for patients Dr. Shaikh has already seen.

If you will be located outside the states where care is currently offered, the visit cannot be scheduled and no payment is taken.

Process

Booking from Washington, step by step

  1. 01

Confirm the state you will be physically located in during the appointment, your age, and that you are paying directly rather than through insurance.

  2. 02

Choose an available time on Dr. Shaikh's calendar and pay for the visit before the appointment.

  3. 03

Complete the clinical intake form with your history, medications, allergies, and preferred pharmacy.

  4. 04

Meet Dr. Shaikh by video for the full appointment — no intake clinician, no questionnaire in place of the consultation.

Scope of care

When a video visit is not the right setting

  • Emergencies, rapidly spreading infection, or a widespread painful rash with fever
  • Anything needing a hands-on examination, biopsy, excision, or in-office procedure
  • Full-body skin cancer screening, which requires an in-person examination
  • Concerns that cannot be assessed adequately by video, which Dr. Shaikh will tell you directly

If you think you may be having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
